Sleep is nature’s sweet restorer. If patients are not sleeping well, they will NOT heal well! As doctors of the head and neck, we should be at the forefront of assessing patients’ sleep. Sleep physiology and anatomy are reviewed, along with a review of sleep studies (PSG and ambulatory). Treatments for sleep-disordered breathing, including sleep hygiene, oral sleep appliance therapy, and Nightlase with the Fotona laser are reviewed. Supporting literature and case studies are also reviewed.
